Every star was once darker than the night, before it awoke. ― Dejan Stojanovic, The Sign and Its Children
The state of Presence is one of the aspects of Supreme Happiness. Presence, or Pure consciousness, encompasses Peace and Joy, but in its nature it’s the same as Love, so its effects are similar too.
The concept of being conscious in the present moment, which brings one into the state of Presence, had been developed and nurtured in ancient times, especially in religious teachings of Buddhism and Hinduism. Today’s spiritual teachers, like Eckhart Tolle, and even many new approaches in psychology, often emphasize the importance of living in ‘the now.’
Once you are in the Presence, you can deal with any type of experience, both wanted and unwanted. The Gentle Touch of Presence (GTP), as one of the basic Reintegration techniques, will ease and diminish the unwanted mind contents, and enrich or improve the pleasant experiences. When we are in the state of Presence, anything we do, we do impeccably and effortlessly, as Pure consciousness is the ultimate intelligence, the perfect benevolence. Through the GTP technique it will “do” what is best for you.
You can delve into the state of Pure Consciousness or Presence in many ways. Here we will achieve that through the first step of the GTP technique:
“Feel from which Temporary I vantage point you are experiencing the present moment. Do the Dissolving the Temporary I technique (DTI). You will find yourself in a state of pure consciousness, the Presence. Stay in that state for roughly ten to fifteen seconds.”
(Note: if you still don't know how to do the DTI technique, you may use any other method for entering the state of Presence instead.)
Then, the second step:
“Now, softly bring the issue you are dealing with into that Presence. Be that Presence, while gently experiencing the issue. Envelop that issue with your Presence. It is important to have them both together, the Presence and the issue, simultaneously. Keep that ‘togetherness’ as long as possible, until the issue completely disappears, or at least your unpleasant ‘gut feeling’ related to the issue, vanishes.”
In this case, that issue is a disease, or more concretely, the unpleasant feeling or bodily sensations produced by that disease.
When the unpleasant feelings completely disappear or at least significantly weaken, do the Moving to the Heart technique. The announcement should be something like: “I am a person who is completely relieved, comfortable and healthy.”
The results of healing with Gentle Touch of Presence are similar to those of healing with Love, because Presence and Love are only two aspects of the same—the Supreme Happiness, the Supreme Being.
